Several years ago I found this place by accident and the owner, as he was helping me pick out my order, told me " you're never going to forget this burrito, it's going to be the best one you've ever had" and honestly I thought it sounded pretty cocky of him to say, but alas, I never did forget about that burrito, it was the best one I ever had!
All these years later, I am so excited to see that he is still in business, making the best burritos ever! I've probably told the story to 20 people and couldn't remember the name of the place, so
I'll be on my way over there soon to see if my memory and taste buds are in alignment with what really is the best burrito ever...! -

Ok, so I'm sitting at a red light on the corner of Solano and San Pablo. It's taking forever! Then I notice the hand painted sign, "Gourmet Burritos and Kabobs". What??? I'm still not going anywhere so I check yelp. Look at the ratings! Now I have to try it. I park, and came in with no idea what to eat. The man behind the counter guided me to the Cajun lamb burrito. Again... what?? I tell the man I like it spicy, so spicy it came. I got it back to the house and I ate it in maybe two minutes. It was so so so delicious. I was (and am) stunned. I'm seriously debating make the 20 minute drive to get another one.
I'll be back. -

Love their tropical burrito! Not sure what makes it tropical, but it has the right combination of beans, lamb, lettuce, tomatoes, and their signature honey curry sauce. That sauce, man. Also comes with sweet chili sauce and a spicy orange sauce on the side if you want to mix up the flavor profiles. Will keep in mind next time I'm in the area. -

Giant, tasty, $5-$8 Afghan burritos? Giant $4-$6 quesadillas? Yes! For a shop on this bustling hipster Solano area, The Hot Shop is incredibly low-key, affordable, and down-to-earth. I could imagine the Afghan owner thinking "How do I make my food cheap, easy to take out, and easy to clean up? Oh duh, just put it in a tortilla and add some cheese!" And he executed it well.
My friend and I came here one Wednesday evening, and it was completely empty save for the man behind the counter. There were two people who walked in later, but no one else during our visit. He ordered one of the specialty burritos and I got a lamb quesadilla ($5.85). The lamb quesadilla was like lamb curry with cheese encased in a grilled tortilla - in other words, yummy! It wasn't amazing, but considering that lamb curry is typically at least double the price in a standard Indian/Afghan restaurant, this was such a bargain.
I'll definitely come back here whenever I crave a bite [and happen to have cash].
